experiences of abuse 01
Ms. N woman in 30s
I’m a believer in the 2nd generation.
When I was a child, parents who are believers were whipping children for many reasons.
For example, young children including babies were whipped in restrooms because of trifling reasons such as when they were dozing off or crying during assemblies.
Because of the pressures by older pioneers and directive lecturers who said that parents should whip children, so parent’s physical punishments became harder and harder.
After the assembly, housewife believers were often talking cheerfully, “Lately, I whipped my child a little too much, his bottom bled.”
I was so scared because other believers were also laughing hearing that talking.
They were not thinking of the children’s painfulness from the unreasonable whippings at all.
I felt sick to see their manner full of self-satisfaction that they were doing the right things.
And there was a female believer who always has a belt for whips in a cute pouch.
I was so terrified of her because she has the belt every time everywhere so that she can whip her son anytime.
When she saw her young son was sitting on a chair with his legs dangling during the assembly, she took him to restroom and take off his diaper and whipped him a lot.
She did such thing frequently.
I couldn’t believe her crazy punishments.
Even adults are not able to keep sitting on the chair which is taller than their legs for a long time because their legs will start hurting.
I still remember the sounds of whip and the wails of the boy with pain and terror.
But she was a young and beautiful, and a social person.
Her smile was attractive and her hairstyle was always fancy.
She seemed to be a kind person so it was hard to believe that she was doing such a terrible abuse.
I think that if she was not a JW, she and her family would have lived a happy life.
When the children who suffered such abuse grow up, many of them will quit JW, and they will avoid their parents.
Many children who were children of JW, are suffering from mental disease.
Their JW parents and JW elders say that “ They became crazy because they took the devil’s side.”
But the cause is clearly that their suffering from children abuse.
